WORKSHOPS | Tactile hands-on learning

These workshops vary in length and depth but follow our experentual methodology of LEARN, APPLY, AUDIT. These workshops are typically offered through our Consortium Hubs

                                                       TRAINING TOPIC
Policy   Deployment During   this process we help you set-up the infrastructure for the establishment and   tracking of your objectives. STEP Diagnostic(5 year plan), X-Matrix (1 year   plan), Paytner(improvement tracking), A3 (Action plan)
Problem   Solving — A3 Although   an A3 is known as a paper size it also a common methodology used for the   summary of initiatives.  The A3 used in   basic problem solving is simple and easy to use to collect data and report   quickly.
Project   Management — A3 Using   the A3 methodology shows the current status of a project and next steps on   one page.
Problem   Solving, 6 Sigma Green Belt  2 session set 4 weeks apart. Follows the ASQ   body of knowledge.  Students will be   given classroom training which they must apply to a pre-selected and approved   project.  The 4 weeks between   class  is for student to apply   knowledge.  The follow-up classs begins   with a review of project status.    Approximently 4-6 weeks after the second class students will need to   complete a test before being granted green-belt status.  Organizations should have min-tab available   for students to complete projects.
Problem Solving, non-statistical method Next   to the elimination of wastes, formal problem solving is critical to eliminate   variation in process.  A non statistical methodology to help identify root cause.  Included in this suite of learning is   Situation Appraisal, Decision Making, Potential Problem Analysis and   Potential Opportunity Analysis.
5S+1   Workplace Organization People   get bored during training. Hence we created this simulation based training   tool to expose folks to the power and benefit of workplace organization.  Typically we conduct a pre-audit of the   facility and take pictures.  As team   embers complete their training of 5S we will assign a homework project that   should take about 1 hour to complete where they can apply the learning’s and   improve the organization.  This is a   great moral booster and jump starts the organization on their workplace   organization journey.
Enterprise   Value Stream Mapping Improved   mapping technique for information and communication flow. We facilitate the   creation of “current state”, “future state” (what you can   accomplish within the next year) and “ultimate state” (what you   could accomplish with unlimited resources)
Lean   Supplier Development A   comprehensive suite of tools initially designed for use in an   electro-mechanical environment.  The   key of the suite is TCOP (Total Cost Of Procurement), in TCOP we track both   quanative and subjective issues that impact supplier relations and convert it   into a handling fee for every $1,000 of procurement.  Supporting TCOP we have a Supplier Self   Certification program (SSCP), Supplier identification and approval   methodology and a formal Supplier Technical Exchange Program (STEP)
Pull Systems Most   organizations just simply put in place a 2-bin system and think they have   accomplished a pull system.  In this   module we will show you the power of building a PFEP (plan for every part).  This will assist you in how to size your   super market, point of use quantities and trigger points including how many   triggers to have in rotation. We suggest that companies wanting to put in   place pull systems start with office supplies, migrate to operating supplies   before cracking the large nugget of raw materials and finished goods.
Total   Productive Maintenance A   powerful tool to get your team embers emotionally attached to process.  A great tool to reduce equipment downtime   while improving the understanding of your employees about the equipment.  A great introduction to the organization to   migrate from reactive to preventive maintenance.
Attendance   Management the   most overlooked money robber in any business. This module is so powerful that   in addition to dramatically reducing casual absentees it actual helps in   cross-training, improves through-put and eventually becomes self regulating   on the shop floor.
The power of   name stamps One   of the tiny secret weapons of success within the Toyota Production   system.  Think you need it?  Answer the question, how do you know   everyone has read a memo posted on your communications board?  Toyota does …
Making   Materials Flow For   many they believe that 5S is a foundational element of the Toyota Production   System, wrong !!  It is all about   material velocity and making materials flow all of the other Lean tools   support this initiative.  We will help   you migrate your material conveyance from taxi cab service to bus routes.
Standardized   Work for Leaders We   have the latest module from Toyota and it helps to insure that tasks are   completed on a regular basis even when folks are away.  When tasks get synchronized through-out   your operation it will dramatically help to reduce process time.  In one example we were able to reduce   month-end close from several days to hours.
Cellular   Methodologies During   this module we will cover the design basics for cellular processing.  Cells can be created in the office as well,   within your operations.  There are   several methodologies you can adopt it depends on your process to determine   which model will benefit you the most and provide the most agility.
Performance   Reviews Typical   performance reviews are a review of an employees previous 3 weeks   performance.  In many cases folks do   not know how to conduct an effective performance review.  The result of an EVSM exercise we exposed   that the organization was investing close to 100 hours in the development,   facilitation and tracking of performance reviews per employee annually.
Morning Market This   a quick and effective visual methodology to expose issues and have them   resolved in a timely manner.  This tool   should only be used in conjunction with Daily Report-outs and some training   on formal problem solving
Shift   Exchange & Daily Report-Outs Just   because you have shift exchange does not mean you should lose   productivity.  This methodology   provides team members a method for the seamless hand-off between shifts.  It also raises awareness of issues   (Disturbances to Flow) that may require the assistance of management   intervention.  The methodology also   engages employee through Continuous Improvement to contribute to a better   work environment.
Employee   Suggestion Program We   are not a big fan of having this as a stand alone module, since we sincerely   believe it is the responsibility of every team member to constantly   contribute to improving the work    environment.  However, within   this module is a good tracking tool to determine which suggestions have been   implemented and the status of their implementation.
Lean   Awareness training A   turbo-teach of several of Lean Enterprise tools and the impact they will   contribute to the business.  The   purpose is not to create practitioners but rather provide awareness of the   various tools so team embers do not get confused during deployment by flavour   of the month syndrome.
Plan For Every   Part (PFEP) Foundational   tool for the development of Pull systems and timed delivery routes.  This tool can be used for “door to   door” and “plant to plant” material conveyance design.
Plan For Every   Employee (PFEE) In   addition to performance reviews, this tool will map out the career path for   every employee and what kind of training will be required to support the   technical and personal growth of each employee.
Plan For   Every Machine (PFEM) In   addition to your employees, machines contribute to the wellness of your   business.  You need to map a plan for   your machine within your organization which includes a periodic review.  The scope of the PFEM includes preventive   maintenance and rebuilding.
Capacity   & Staffing Planning (CSP) This   module provides the organization with a 4 month window of planning and   execution to insure that your through-put remain steady and effective.  This tool can be linked to your PFEP and   also your EVSM to determine in advance capacity constraints.
Set-Up   Reduction (SMED) We   prefer to run this module as a “work-out” by video taping a set-up   the team is able to migrate internal steps to external of the set-up.  It also incorporates the use of 5S and   visual work instructions.  Within the   food industry these techniques can be applied to sanitation processes for   dramatic reductions.
Program/Product   Realization (APQP) For   many, new program introductions can be havoc within the organization.  We will show a 5 step gated methodology   that when followed provides a stress-free introduction of new products and   programs that will meet budget expectations.
Overall   Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) one   of the most effective metrics to track equipment performance. It is a   combination of quality & throughput measured during available time to   measure your ROI on equipment and process.    In may situations these can be applied    automatically to machines and use down-time counters for   reconciliation and problem solving.
Team Leader,   Leadership training these   are simple yet effective training modules for all of your staff.  It includes a PP presentation, a quiz and   homework assignment.  We suggest doing   a module per month to keep the team focused on your Lean journey.
